Look For All The Pretty Pumpkins
Fact: We are not big DIYers. The whole process seems so fun and creative. You see a cute crafty project. You go to a craft store and buy all the cute supplies. You set-up a super clean workspace, you know, so you don’t get anything on your furniture, floors, or clothes. And then 2 hours, $200, and a ruined pair of Golden Gooses’ later, you could’ve just bought it on Etsy.
We had to document the one time we found a Pinterest DIY of PAINTED PUMPKINS.
We stake no claims in coming up with this idea, but here’s how it worked out for us:

So, as you can see… a super crafty idea, especially for someone that’s not really a Halloween lover or doesn’t have kids. But if we’re being honest, all in all, for what we spent in crafting supplies and pumpkins, we could’ve just bought it.
Top 5 Pretty Little Takeaways to NOT DIY:
It really is NOT cost-saving. After purchasing pumpkins, paint, drop cloth, painter’s tape, aluminum tins, and lettering we probably spent around $200. Totally could’ve paid someone.
Even if you’re not a fully-scheduled person, there still has to be something more valuable to do with your time. From beginning to end, after purchasing pumpkins and supplies and then setting up and painting, it took about 2 hours. Then the pumpkins had to dry for 48 hours. We could’ve gotten manicures and pedicures and gone for drinks.
We’re perfectionist, so this gave us more anxiety than the satisfaction it was supposed to bring. The fret of paint getting on clothes or furniture or newly painted concrete flooring… it was all too much.
We do not have good thoughts on DIY. There is definitely a reason that people have blogs for their niche. This is not ours. We will continue to talk about fashion, travels, and entertaining. DIY will most likely not be a big topic for us again. You’re welcome.
This did not bring us joy. And we all know what Marie Kondo says: if it doesn’t bring you joy, get rid of it.
